Pierre Potier

His work was primarily at the interface between chemistry and biology. He was responsible for the development of two drugs distributed worldwide for the treatment of cancer: Navelbine®, developed by Pierre Fabre Laboratories, and Taxotere®, a flagship drug developed by Sanofi-Aventis, and he was conducting research into type 2 diabetes with high hopes of success.

Pierre Potier held numerous positions and received many honours, both in France and abroad. In particular, he was a member of the Institut de France, president of the Fondation Internationale de la Maison de la Chimie, director of the CNRS Institute of Natural Substances Chemistry, recipient of the CNRS Gold Medal in 1998, and a member of scientific councils and the boards of directors of charitable organisations.
